Privacy Policy

FirstLook is a private beta screening tool for acquisition targets. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

What We Collect

• Email address: Provided when you first use FirstLook. Used to identify your account, enforce usage limits, and associate your reports with you.
• URLs you submit: The company website URLs you enter for analysis.
• Analysis results: The reports generated from your submissions, including scores, recommendations, and supporting data.
• Manual evaluations: Scores and company data you enter on the Manual Entry page.
• Usage data: Request timestamps, IP addresses (for rate limiting only, not stored long-term), and report counts.

How We Use Your Data

• To generate and deliver screening reports.
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
• To cache results so repeated analyses of the same company are faster.
• To improve the quality of FirstLook's analysis over time.

Third-Party Services

FirstLook uses the following third-party services to deliver its analysis:

• Anthropic (Claude API): Company URLs and scraped website content are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate analysis. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Jina AI (Jina Reader API): Company URLs you submit are sent to Jina's Reader API, which fetches and processes the target website's content on our behalf. See Jina's Privacy Policy.
• Railway: Hosting provider. See Railway's Privacy Policy.

Web Scraping & robots.txt

FirstLook scrapes the websites you submit in order to gather information for analysis. We respect robots.txt directives. If a website's robots.txt disallows crawling for our user agent (FirstLook-Screener), we will not scrape that site. We identify ourselves honestly in our HTTP requests.

Data Retention

Analysis results are stored indefinitely to support caching and your report history. If you want your data deleted, email reidcavallini@gmail.com and we will remove all data associated with your email address.

No Selling of Data

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with anyone except the third-party services listed above, which are necessary to deliver the product.
